Oliver Twists: The Bridge Season 2, Episodes 7 and 8

The Bridge Series 2: Episodes 7 and 8

The Bridge crime drama

How did we get to the penultimate week so quickly?? As great as it is having two episodes a week, it seems to pass by very quickly and a ten episode series flies past. Particularly one as good as this.

The Bridge continues to be full of surprises. We got through two episodes this week without seeing Jakob’s pants! This was of course made up for (if that’s the expression!) with a male and female full frontal. The male one being a bit more full on than the female one.

Viktoria begins tonight’s episode continuing the most boring bucket list in the history of the world, which culminates in her shooting a hen. Which was in a cage. Next week, she visits Ikea!

Marcus may want to consider getting a season ticket for the police station when he is called in for questioning yet again. This time, after the call he received at the end of episode 6 from Captain Birdseye about the people who were on the boat he sank. (The police had tapped his phone). It turned out that although the man who had paid for the boat to be sunk wasn’t Marcus, whoever did do that, said he was Marcus.

The good (or bad) Captain soon met a sticky end. After being released by the police, he was the next victim of the injection experiment torture and was next to end up in a drum of acid. Saga and Martin managed to trace the call organising this to a small area of land which contained Medisonus, the pharmaceutical company which Viktoria is in charge of.

Bridge33

The owner of the mysterious breast implant found in the boat of dead bodies belonged to a young woman, the father of whom Martin and Saga visited and subsequently revisted to ask if she had a career in porn (with Saga’s legendary tact).

It wasn’t a good week for the eternally creepy Oliver. As well as his wife finding that he had CCTV cameras in his sister’s house, he had saved the bits where she got naked. Probably just as well she hadn’t seen him masturbating to this as we did. With the evening’s episodes finishing with Laura, who seems to have Rasputin like powers of resurrection, identifying him as the man who shot her, he seems to be in too deep (so to speak) to have a happy ending like the one he enjoyed earlier. Whether he is in cahoots with his sister is still open to debate. He was also heartbroken to see his sister have a one night stand with Bodil in her “sleep with a woman” element of the aforementioned bucket list. (It’s getting better!). Oliver tells Bodil the book deal is over and she has not to contact his sister again.

Bridge34

Bodil doesn’t get it all her own way though, with her sister Caroline discovering her affair with her husband. That colleague of Caroline’s who can make deleted texts reappear could ruin a few relationships in the world I expect.

Martin is getting to Jens in prison to the extent that Jens doesn’t want to see him anymore, which doesn’t stop Martin going to his cell. Is Jens actually showing signs of remorse?

The Bridge

Rasmus gets his long overdue comeuppance when Saga and Martin discover his changing of a police report to exonerate him.

Peter, our security man at Medisonus looks to be up to no good, but it is mainly that he is meeting up with a Lithuanian at the much promoted in this episode Radisson hotel for some gay sex. Although his possessions then unearthed the keycard used by the mysterious Mikkel.

Martin returns to his wife and spurns the advances of a clearly put out Pernille, although Mette looked as if she was having second thoughts after they had consummated their reunion.

bridge35

Lennart Blomgren, who was employed at Medisonus years ago, when a clinical trial appears to have taken place which involved the people found dead on the boat, is believed dead (according to his wife) although he is alive and well in Thailand, and is clearly a baddie.

Saga has all the best lines once more, including in discussion with Jakob’s mother and with Jakob himself. Her scene trying to wake Laura up was also astonishing.

One week to go!

Issues:

• Amazing how Marcus’ phone rang with the blackmail call from Captain Birdseye just as the phone was switched on in the police station.
• Bodil had an episode fixing the dearth of scarves in previous episodes singlehandedly.
• Amazing to see Bodil conducting an interview with Viktoria outside the house in the garden with big coats on, obviously in the cold, drinking wine. I like their style!
• With the way Saga brings her Porsche to a halt, did she grow up watching episodes of Police Squad?
• Was the outrageous Hawaiian shirt really required to show that Lennart Blomgren was in some far flung isle?
• Martin and Saga were very slow to pick up on the clinical trial aspect when deciding that porn could be the link.
• Just how can Jakob love Saga?
• Was Rasmus really just reassigned? I would have thought at least a suspension and Internal Affairs would have been involved. Maybe he will return to save the day. The big doofus that he is.
• What are “Danish pastries” called in Denmark?
• When Martin said “Yes, I am back” to Mette, I could have sworn he said “Yes, I have a toupee”.
• This week’s Scottishness was brought to you by the word “hoose”
• Just how many armed police are required to deal with a possible event?
• Who is Mikkel Höst? Oliver seems too busy with his sister to be at Medisonus that much.
• How hard was it for Laura to speak to the police when they’ve had an officer stationed outside her room the whole time?
• Is Oliver poisoning his sister? Or is he doing the torturing to try and find a cure?
• Is Martin poisoning Jens? He takes him coffee every time he goes. Is he maybe not pretending when he says he is ill?
• Is Karoline’s clever assistant going to poison the water at the EU summit?
• Can Laura’s dad be that wet? Or has he got a lot more to do with it than we all think?
• Peter/Amir the leader of the Greens in Borgen. Did he make anyone Green this time after his brief showing?
• How many of you ladies used the pause button for the above?
• Belgian series next on BBC4!

  1. victoriafc says:

I was so happy Rasmus got his comeuppance this week! Though I also suspect he might royally screw up / be killed or turn hero next week. Or he is Mother of Three (haha)?

Also, interesting angle that Oliver is looking for a cure.. or is it another Munchhausens case?

And will we find anything out abut Jakob? How did they get past the second date without him running away?

Danish pastries are called wienerbröd/wienerbrød (Viennese bread) in Swedish/Danish 🙂
